Do You Like To Garden?

We’re always looking for an extra set of hands to assist our ACL gardeners Alla and Liz.  The current tasks at hand are removing bulbs and planting flowers.  If you are available to assist, please contact Alla at allawebster@gmail.com.

Help us keep our front circle garden looking great all season

Let’s Revive the Auburndale Community Association

For many years all of Auburndale was joined as a village by an extremely vibrant neighborhood organization called the Auburndale Community Association (ACA). The ACA used to run a fabulous Village Day. (One of the earlier Village Days in Newton.) The folks that run Rove the Cove are the remaining stewards of the ACA, but we could use an infusion of new energy and ideas to do more!  Some Auburndale people have recently expressed an interest in revitalizing the ACA. A group of residents are thinking of beginning that effort, and anyone interested in playing a small, or a large, roll in this organization should contact lynn.slobodin@gmail.com Also feel free to send along questions.  If this effort is successful in resurrecting our village organization, the hope is to hold a large community wide meeting at the Village Bank lobby in the fall.

Many Thanks to Our May ACL Volunteers

These volunteers donated their time and talents at the ACL in May.  Next time you see one of them around town, give them a big ol’ hearty THANKS!

Newton Serves at the ACL: Call for Volunteers — Sunday April 29

It’s That Time of Year again!  NewtonSERVES 2017, is on Sunday, April 29th.  We will be gardening at the Auburndale Community Library from 12 noon until 3:30 PM.  We hope we’ll have many hearty volunteers join us to help spread compost, clean beds, and plant spring flowers, also visit with other gardeners and have some fun.  It is important to sign up on-line at the NewtonSERVES website in order to get on the list for a souvenir 2018 NewtonSERVES T SHIRT.

ACL Annual Meeting ~ Tuesday, January 16 at 7:30 pm

Please join us for annual ACL meeting on Tuesday, January 16!  We will review circulation statistics, programming, our budget, and general ACL operations.  We will also vote on our board members.  Just a time to bring everyone together once a year to discuss the state of the library and generally swoon about what a great thing we’ve got going.

Who is presently on the board or an officer of the ACL, you ask?  These are the folks who, in addition to staffing regular volunteer shifts, help with the finances, programming, circulation, holdings acquisition, and policies of the ACL: Johanne Campbell (treasurer), Ellen Chu, Barb Day, Dana Hanson (outgoing president), Lenna Kutner, Janet Linder, Liz Miller (assistant treasurer), Liz Noon, Robyn Phillips, Lynn Slobodin, Martha Sweet, Christopher Weinmann, and Linda Winslow (secretary).  We look forward to voting in two new co-presidents at our upcoming meeting–Ellen Chu & Christopher Weinmann.
