Save The Date & Sign Up Now: Newton PorchFest Saturday, June 1

Sign-ups for Newton PorchFest, scheduled for Saturday, June 1st (raindate June 2nd) are now open.   Last year was the inaugural year for Newton PorchFest, with 60+ bands playing all over Auburndale.  For this year, we’re expanding to also include Lower Falls and Waban.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with PorchFest, it’s a wonderful afternoon of music performed outside of people’s homes, held in 100+ cities across the country.   Here’s how you can participate:
  • Host:  Sign up to host a band on your porch, lawn or driveway.
  • Play:  Are you a singer-songwriter, part of a jazz quartet, or rock out?  All forms of musical talent, all ages are welcome!
  • Volunteer:  We’d love the help!
  • Donate:   Newton PorchFest is funded entirely by donations.  Any and all donations are welcome.

Newton Serves at the ACL: Call for Volunteers — Sunday April 28

We will be gardening at the Auburndale Community Library again this year on Newton Serves from 12 noon until 3:30 PM.  We hope we’ll have many hearty volunteers join us to help spread compost, clean beds, and plant spring flowers, also visit with other gardeners and have some fun.  It is important to sign up on-line at the NewtonSERVES website in order to get on the list for a souvenir 2019 NewtonSERVES T SHIRT.

ACL Annual Meeting ~ Tuesday, January 29 at 7:30 pm

Please join us for annual ACL meeting on Tuesday, January 29. We will review circulation statistics, programming, our budget, and general ACL operations. We will also vote on our board members. Just a time to bring everyone together once a year to discuss the state of the library and generally swoon about what a great thing we’ve got going.

Who is presently on the board or an officer of the ACL, you ask? These are the folks who, in addition to staffing regular volunteer shifts, help with the finances, programming, circulation, holdings acquisition, and policies of the ACL: Johanne Campbell (treasurer), Ellen Chu (president) Dana Hanson, Lenna Kutner, Janet Linder, Liz Miller (assistant treasurer), Liz Noon, Robyn Phillips, Lynn Slobodin, Martha Sweet, Christopher Weinmann (president), and Linda Winslow (secretary).
