About

Who we are

The Auburndale Community Library (ACL) is a non-profit community library formed in 2009 after the closure of the former Auburndale branch of the Newton Free Library. In addition to circulating books and other items, we host various community activities such as clubs, classes, and cultural events. The ACL is open to all. To take out books, you will need to obtain a free library card.

We rely on volunteers to assist patrons and on the generosity of the community to fund our collection, events, and ongoing expenses. In fact, 100 percent of our funding comes from donations!

Why we ask for a donation

Because the ACL receives no funding from the city or the state, we depend on financial support from the community to fund 100 percent of our expenses. Your donations help us not only to purchase books and other items, but also to license our building from the city, to pay for insurance, and to purchase supplies and equipment for activities at the Library. We have been very fortunate to have the support of many local businesses, but we also need the help of our neighbors. If you can, please donate.
