These volunteers donated their time and talents at the ACL in April, both in the library and around the gardens as part of Newton Serves. Next time you see one of them around town, give them a big ol’ hearty THANKS!

Looking for a neighborly community-based volunteer activity? We’d love to bolster our Auburndale Community Library volunteer ranks this spring. Here’s how it works: you sign up for a shift when it’s convenient for you (maybe once or twice a month) and you help keep our little library going strong! Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for the link for volunteer signups and we’ll train you on the job–it’s an easy peasy gig.
We are delighted to be hosting this beauty of a piano on loan to us from the John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club of Newton. Come by and play a tune sometime! We’ll be hosting the piano for the next 4 weeks. We have several neighborhood volunteers helping to keep the piano covered in the evenings and when it rains, but please, if you ever see the skies clouding up unexpectedly and the piano is uncovered, please feel free to grab the tarp in the bin and give it a quick cover and wrap with the bungee cords! Thank you in advance for helping us with the care and feeding of our piano!
Sign-ups for Newton PorchFest, scheduled for Saturday, June 1st (raindate June 2nd) are now open. Last year was the inaugural year for Newton PorchFest, with 60+ bands playing all over Auburndale. For this year, we’re expanding to also include Lower Falls and Waban.
We will be gardening at the Auburndale Community Library again this year on Newton Serves from 12 noon until 3:30 PM. We hope we’ll have many hearty volunteers join us to help spread compost, clean beds, and plant spring flowers, also visit with other gardeners and have some fun. It is important to sign up on-line at the NewtonSERVES website in order to get on the list for a souvenir 2019 NewtonSERVES T SHIRT.
Please remember that we garden all spring and summer, and would really appreciate your help in making the ACL grounds really beautiful this year.
