Classics For Kids

Know any 4th-6th graders who love the Percy Jackson series? Who wants to know everything there is to know about Greek and Roman mythology, including the languages they were originally written in? If so, come sign up for a fun, weekly Saturday afternoon program running from July 9 to August 27 from 4pm-5pm. Free to students entering 4th-6th grades. No prior knowledge needed, just a desire to learn and have fun. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Please email Maddie at mw02459@gmail.com for more information and to register.

Closed Saturday July 2

We are closed on Saturday July 2 for the holiday weekend. Come see us on Tuesday July 5!

Masks at the library

Although the City of Newton has dropped their indoor mask mandate for public spaces, we will continue to require masks for our volunteers and patrons inside the library.

Many of our visitors are under 5 and not yet eligible for vaccination, and we want to keep the library as a safe space for them as well as for our immunocompromised visitors. We appreciate your help with this!

Book Donations: No, thank you…

Just a friendly reminder that, unfortunately, we cannot accept donations of old books at this time.

What to do? The Friends of the Newton Free Library has relocated to the Newton Free Library, and can be contacted for donations. You can also bring books to the More than Words drop off bin at the Rumford Avenue recycling center.

We will be grateful if you do not leave piles of books outside the library, where they risk being ruined by rain and snow, and which we have to bring to used book drop off locations. Thank you!

New Books!

Many patrons have commented on the availability of best sellers at the ACL.  Our book purchaser, Janet Linder, keeps us up to date!  Check out our catalog to see if we have the books you’re looking for.  If not, we’ll look into purchasing them.
