Read NOW, Discuss Later: The ACL Book Club Just Mercy on Saturday, December 5th at 10:00 am

Our next ACL Book Club selection is Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson. We will meet on Saturday, December 5th at 10:00 am.  We have selected this as our next title because author Bryan Stevenson will be speaking about his groundbreaking book at Emerson College at a lecture that is free and open to the public on Wednesday December 9th (register here for the December 9th author event).

About the book (from Facing History and Ourselves):

Just Mercy, Stevenson’s memoir, recalls his experiences as a young lawyer advocating for justice and fighting against extreme punishments in an unbalanced criminal justice system. The stories he tells are heartbreaking, inspiring, and motivate audiences to take action and make changes in their own lives.

Visionary attorney and human rights activist Bryan Stevenson is a MacArthur Fellow and founder of the Equal Justice Initiative. Stevenson is one of the country’s most inspired thinkers and social justice advocates, and a leader in the movement to fight mass incarceration.
