Summer Teen Volunteers Update – A Kiddie Harry Potter Party in the Works…

Our summer teen volunteers have been amazing this summer!  We have about 10 youth who have been coming and going and working on various projects over the past few weeks.  From setting up book displays, to writing book reviews, to gardening, to shelving books, to generally keeping the place up n’ running, it’s been great to have these young library lovers around–they bring a terrific energy to the ACL.

A few of our youth vols are serious Latin enthusiasts and they have come up with an idea to run a Harry Potter/Latin party for kids.  They believe that there is much untapped potential to have some FUN with Latin this summer and they would like to share their love of the language with us (a ‘Latin Linguistic Luau’, if you will…).  Well, why not!?

We hope you’ll drop by and support these teens who are trying to bring something fun to the library.  The working date/time is Thursday, July 26th from 5:30-6:30 pm.  More details to follow, but please jot it down now–especially if you have Harry Potter fans living under your roof (our youth have some great tie-in activities planned to explore and celebrate connections to Latin throughout the series).
