Save the evening of July 14th for an exciting event at the ACL!!! At 7:30 that night we will be hosting Jane Roper, an up-and-coming writer! Jane will speak about her new novel Eden Lake.
“Eden Lake is an unusually accomplished debut novel about love and loss and the absurdities of summer camp. Jane Roper writes with quiet authority and sly humor about a large and intriguing cast of characters.” — Tom Perrotta, New York Times bestselling author of Election, Joe College and Little Children
EDEN LAKE is set in 1998 at a progressive children’s summer camp in Maine, whose visionary director dies unexpectedly, leaving his adult children to sort out the future of the camp and, in so doing, their own lives. The book was inspired in part, by the Maine summer camps Jane’s parents worked at or owned during her childhood.
Come and join us for a fun evening of smores, trail mix, and thoughtful conversation! An email will go out when the ACL copies of Eden Lake are available to circulate! In the meantime, check out the book’s entertaining web site.
Jane Roper’s writing has appeared in publications including Poets & Writers, Salon, Slate, and The Rumpus. Her memoir of parenting twins, inspired by her popular “Baby Squared” blog on Babble.com, will be published by St. Martin’s Press in 2012. Jane Roper has an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. EDEN LAKE is her first novel.
