Earlier this spring, the ACL mourned the loss of our dear friend Cheryl Harris. Those of us who have been a part of the ACL community since we opened the library in June ’09 will remember that Cheryl was the one who put together our weekly staffing schedule, taught us all how to Doodle, trained us on our specific volunteer duties, and always came up with a pithy saying or two with each email she sent us to sign up for shifts. Cheryl loved our little library and the operation as we know it never would have come about as it did without her efforts.
Cheryl’s family donated some of Cheryl’s personal books to the ACL and they agreed to let us to create a special display for a few months in her honor. The display is entitled “Cheryl’s Good Reads” and there is an eclectic bunch of crafty, spiritual, foodie and humorous books for all of us to borrow and enjoy. These books will become a part of our permanent selection and are identified by a bookplate on the inside flap.
Be sure to stop by and visit the table often over the upcoming weeks–the books have been circulating like crazy so returning books will be re-displayed upon their return.
