Holiday Gift Drive sponsored by The Village Bank

One of the ACL‘s most long-standing sponsors, The Village Bank, is once again sponsoring its Holiday Gift Drive.

For the 11th consecutive year, The Village Bank and the City of Newton will sponsor a Holiday Gift Drive to help ensure that the upcoming season will be bright for all of the City’s children.

Local residents, businesses, groups, and organizations are encouraged to play an active role again this year with a generous donation of new, unwrapped gifts for children ages newborn to 10. The Village Bank’s Newton branches in Auburndale, Newtonville, Nonantum, Newton Highlands, Waban and West Newton will serve as Holiday Gift Drive collection sites. Donations will be accepted from November 12 through December 10.

Suggested gifts include age-appropriate clothing, games, sporting goods, and toys. The donation of gift certificates purchased from local merchants will also benefit businesses in the community.

According to Joseph De Vito, president and CEO of The Village Bank, the annual Holiday Gift Drive has reached more than 200 income-eligible local families in recent years.

“The Holiday Gift Drive is always among the highlights of any given year for us,” said De Vito. “From the early planning stages to the final gifts distributed to local families in time for holiday celebrations, it’s a caring, sharing event that helps define us as a community. And, the bottom line may be that, for everyone involved in making it happen, it is also a holiday gift we give ourselves.”

Susan Paley, The Village Bank vice president and community relations officer, and Pamela Weissman, Newton’s director of social services, are managing the details of the Drive.
