What better way to celebrate the summer than outdoor eating! For our next ACL Cookbook book club, we’ll use The Thrill of the Grill by Chris Schlesinger and John Willoughby.
Both are local. Chris Schlesinger is the chef behind the East Coast Grill, Jake and Earl’s Dixie BBQ and The Blue Room. John Willoughby helped launch Cook’s Illustrated magazine and has been involved with the America’s test kitchen TV show. The Thrill of the Grill has plenty of recipes (sides, salads, dessert) that aren’t grilled so this will definitely work for the ACL potluck/book club format. Maybe we can eat outside again!
Here’s how our ACL Cookbook Book Club works:
- You choose a recipe from The Thrill of the Grill. A copy will be available at the ACL circulation desk. There are also many copies in the minuteman library system, as well as recipes available on-line.
- Sign up at the circulation desk, or using our signup form: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0849a4a929a3fc1-aclcookbook3. That way, we will ensure we don’t have duplicate dishes.
- Make your dish at home and bring it to the ACL on Thursday, August 18th, ready to eat (we don’t have the ability to reheat or refrigerate at the ACL)
