The lowest-key, “feel good” volunteer gig at the ACL!
On Tuesday mornings, we have a reader arrive at 10:00/10:15 am, put the toddler toys in the office (creates a quieter environment for reading), and chooses some books. When the kids arrive (10:15/10:30 am), between 3 – 5 books are read (depending on interest level of the crowd), and, if the reader is inclined, a simple craft can be completed. We also have a mountain of puppets available…grab one of these, make a funny voice and you’ll feel like a rock star. Sing a round of “Wheels on the Bus” and you’ll have groupies for life…
It’s fun! We just need a few more takers to keep our crowd of littles happy. You may opt to read seasonal books (pumpkins! apples! Halloween!) or just grab a stack of personal faves (Dr. Seuss, anyone?) If you have your own kiddies in tow, all the better–the more the merrier.
