It was a wet and wild adventure, but an intrepid group DID show to help out in the downpour this past Sunday for Newton Serves. Thank you to everyone who worked in the rain, beautifying the grounds of the Auburndale Community Library. We made a lot of progress and people are commenting on how beautiful it looks. Many thanks to Patricia Bottomley and Liz Noon for coordinating the event logistics and for being our trusty foremen on the job! These wonderful folks helped us weed, plant flowers, and begin to spread some topsoil and mulch around the library grounds:
Dagostino Family: Jeff, Lisa, Casey & Matthew, Maria Bueche, Jamie Parda, Amy Dow, Karla Armenoff, Eileen Ingham, Julia Malakie, Ned Schofield, Karina Aguilar, John Donovan, Hilary Monihan,Lily Xiqing Li, Mei Zhangi, Dana Hanson, Liz Noon, Patricia Bottomley
We plan to meet again this coming Thursday morning from 9:30 am until 12 noon to continue our work. Edging flower beds and spreading mulch is our planned agenda for the day. Yes, we know that rain is forecast. However, rain is expected all week and we have work to do. The temperature is expected to be mid-60’s, so we will work, rain or shine, just as we did on Sunday.
If you are willing and able to do this physical work, and are available this Thursday morning, we would be delighted to see you there with your own shovel if you have one. A wheelbarrow would be great too, if you happen to have that. If you don’t have a shovel or wheelbarrow, but would like to participate, we will provide extra tools. Please contact Liz Noon if you wish to help out on Thursday or might be available some other time to lend a hand.
Special ACL Thanks to Lasell College and D&S Landscaping and Excavating, Inc.
Our Newton Serves crew was given an incredible head start in the beautification department by our friends at t Lasell College. Marc Fournier, Assistant Director for Plant Operations & Sustainability, arranged for Lasell’s landscape contractor, D & S Landscaping, to donate their time to help us prune some shrubs and prepare some flower beds around the library. Many thanks to both Marc and David Sementelli of D & S. It takes a village to run a community library and we feel very fortunate to have the support of local businesses and institutions in helping us with all the elements of keeping the ACL going!
