Drop-In VALENTINE Crafting–Two Sessions!

Not one, but TWO drop-in Valentine crafting sessions–because you can never have enough craftiness at Valentine’s Day, can you?

Thursday, February 9 from 3:30 – 4:30 pm
Saturday, February 11 from 10:30 – 11:30 am

All ages welcome–if you can wield a glue stick, you are old enough to attend! Enjoy a fabulous array of crafty items to make Valentines for your friends and family. A combination of youth volunteers and local mamas Dana Hanson & Marlene Gibson will run the show. (We’ll have some hot chocolate to be cozy & festive, too!)

Spilling Ink Kids’ Writing Club: Saturday, February 4 at 1:30 pm

Join the ACL youth writers every month in their club. The next meeting is this coming Saturday afternoon at 1:30.

At this meeting, the writers will be continuing their work on individual short stories that they started last time (or new ones if folks weren’t there last month). We will focus on developing our characters and plot where the story might be going.

Who is on the board of the ACL, you ask? Our Beautiful Grounds…thanking Newton Pride

The grounds of the ACL always look beautiful, in large part due to the efforts of the wonderful Newton Community Pride gardening volunteers. Over the past few weeks, these volunteers worked in the garden, planting many tulip and daffodil bulbs, transplanting shrubs, and cleaning out invasive weeds:

TOMORROW NITE! Children’s Book Sale and Speaker at Burr Elementary School Tuesday, November 29th 5:00 – 8:00 pm

Talk about shopping local! The Burr Elementary School is opening its annual children’s book sale to the public this Tuesday evening. Enjoy an amazing selection of kids’ books (infant through teen) right in the ‘Dale, with the benefit of supporting Burr. We also have a guest speaker at 7:00 pm: the Newton Free Library’s NEW Children’s Room Supervisor, Jill Graboski. She will discuss children’s literacy, particularly technology trends and e-reader tools for children. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to have access to one of Newton’s experts on children and books.

Parents, children, grandparents, neighbors, and friends are welcome–the more the merrier!
