Book Event: Vodka Shot, Pickle Chaser Newton Alderman and Author David Kalis Tuesday, June 17th at 7:30 pm

We are pleased to present Newton Alderman and Author David Kalis at the ACL on Tuesday, June 17th for a book talk about his book, Vodka Shot, Pickle Chaser.

The situation in Russia and Ukraine is dangerous and evolving, but in many ways is a result of the collapse of the Soviet Union. Having lived in the USSR for 3 years during its dissolution, and witnessing first-hand the chaos of the mafia, corruption, and uncertainty, Author David A. Kalis has a unique perspective on the current conflict, and fantastic stories to share of his time in Russia. His memoir is told from the perspective of a recent college graduate, so provides insights for young adults trying to find a direction, while his search for his roots in Ukraine and the unraveling of the Soviet Union will appeal to all adults. Vodka Shot, Pickle Chaser is his coming-of-age memoir in which David finds that the road less traveled can lead to unexpected adventure, and that looking backward sometimes provides the best insight into how to move forward. Kirkus Review is available here.
